Origin Story

Back in 2014, one of our humans, Alessandro, started noticing something a little… off. The shiny tubes, the neon gels, the “minty blast” potions of the oral care universe felt less like health & more like a long-term science experiment being conducted in your mouth.

So he did what any mildly rebellious, health-obsessed, possibly guided-by-the-cosmos human would do. He questioned everything. The synthetic ingredients. The chemical cocktails. The idea that “normal” oral care might actually be doing more harm than good.

Somewhere between late nights, ingredient deep-dives & a stubborn refusal to accept the status quo, a mission formed. Create a toothpaste that is 100% natural, completely synthetic-free, & actually good for teeth, not just good at foaming dramatically in a sink.

Formulation began. Tweaks were made. Things were learned. More tweaks were made. Eventually, something special emerged. A toothpaste that could properly clean, properly support oral health, & do it all without the chemical baggage.

Fast forward to now, & somehow this small, slightly obsessive mission has grown into something much bigger. Today, Zerolla stands as one of the UK’s leading natural, sustainable oral care brands, still fighting the good fight against the landfill-bound, chemically-loaded giants of the dental aisle.

How we started

  • Making toothpaste

When something doesn’t exist, I usually try to make it myself. That’s how I started making my own toothpaste with organic, food-grade ingredients, guided by two simple principles: respect our body & natural efficacy.

  • Sharing value

My mission has never been to “disrupt dentistry.” It’s to reconnect the dots. What we eat. How we live. How our body heals. What you put on your toothbrush. Your mouth isn’t separate from the rest of you & your toothpaste shouldn’t be either.

  • Starting Zerolla

Zerolla didn’t begin as a business idea, but as a personal need. It grew because the people around me felt the same disconnect I did. They wanted oral care that matched their values, their lifestyle & their understanding of health.

My frustations

  • Synethetic formulas

Conventional oral care is packed with unnecessary chemicals that don’t respect the whole health.
  • Plastic Overload

Most everyday oral care products rely on single-use plastic that ends up in landfill again & again.
  • Eco Compromise

Sustainable options often sacrifice performance, making better choices feel like a downgrade.
  • Toxic ingredients

Many oral care products contain ingredients that raise concerns around toxicity when used daily.
  • Fake Naturals

Products are often marketed as natural, yet still rely on synthetic fillers, flavours, or unnecessary additives
  • Bacteria Killing

Most products aim to sterilise the mouth completely, disrupting the natural balance of bacteria rather than supporting a healthy oral environment.
